Diagnosis and Early Detection

Doctors use different tests to find prostate cancer early. Here are some common tests they use:

  • PSA Test: A blood test that checks the amount of a protein made by the prostate. Higher levels can mean cancer, but not always.
  • Digital Rectal Exam (DRE): A doctor feels your prostate with a gloved finger to check for lumps or unusual areas.
  • Imaging Tests: Sometimes doctors use special pictures like MRIs or CT scans to better understand what is happening in the prostate.

Finding prostate cancer early makes it easier to treat and gives you the best chance of getting better.
